The Multimedia Mania Contest is an awards program designed to highlight students and teachers who are using multimedia for teaching and learning. Students and teachers are invited to share their creations with an
international audience. The projects created for the contest are related to classes or courses in which the students are involved. The integration of multimedia and technology is a focus of the projects created for
the contest. While teachers play an important role in helping to guide students in the use of multimedia tools for learning, the students in grades K-12 complete the work on the projects.
There is an emphasis placed upon the creative use of multimedia within the projects including 3-D design, video, animation, originality, and alignment to the curriculum. Resources must be documented and copyrights
honored. Students are encouraged to collaborate within a classroom environment.
The goal of the Multimedia Ma;nia Contest is to showcase working models of effective technology integration into typical classroom settings. Teams of students in grades K-12 may enter the contest. Entries are grouped
into three division; grades K-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12.
Sponsors of the Multmedia Mania Contest have grown over the years since it was first held. The sponsors for the 2001 contest included:
ISTE HyperSIG, SAS inSchool , North Carolina State University College of Education, Macromedia, Knowledge Adventure, and Ezedia.
Support is also provided by Tech4Learning and FTC Publishing. PLEASE support these software vendors who
