While completing my MS at NCSU in Mechanical Engineering, I worked for the North Carolina Solar Center as a research associate. During my time with the Solar Center, I worked on a number of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, including biodiesel, wind, PV, biomass co-firing, and animal waste to energy. As a PhD candidate in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, my research is at its infancy stage. My plan is to conduct research on biomass feedstock harvesting, storage and/or logistics from the farmer’s perspective. This may include new harvesting techniques, agricultural residue yield sensors, or on-farm pre-processing. As a farmer myself, I want to conduct applied research that can immediately be implemented to aid the emerging bio-fuels, bio-products, and bio-energy markets in North Carolina. |
