SCALE-UP Consulting
University of Pittsburgh:
September, 2007. I helped Adam Liebovich establish a 39-student Physics 1 (calculus-based) class that used the Matter & Interactions textbook. After one semester, his students convinved him to teach the Physics 2 course in the spring as well.
Old Dominion University:
August, 2008 and ongoing. I helped Larry Weinstein and Charles Sukenik establish two 32-student Physics 1 (calculus-based) classes: one general population and the other for physics majors and honors college students. They taught Physics 2 (electricity and magnetism) in the spring, and I visited again to observe and discuss their efforts.
George Washington University:
March, 2009. I helped Gerald Feldman and Mark Reeves by observing their courses mid-semester, participating in a focus group with students, and meeting with the faculty and TAs to discuss strategies for improving their courses.
If you're interested in setting up a SCALE-UP classroom or would like me to observe, evaluate, or discuss your implementation, contact me and I may be able to visit and help!
