CS053 Landscape Lecture 12: Hard to Control Weeds

Study questions:

What are the characteristics (discussed in class) of “hard to control” species – that make them hard to control?

Know the specific reasons for each species discussed in class -- life cycle, reproduction, spread, herbicide tolerance, etc.

Describe the recommended control guidelines for each species discussed in class.
For each control option, describe the advantages and limitations.
Know in which types of landscape beds these options can and cannot be used.

Annuals: morningglory, dodder, vetch
Florida betony
Dollarweed / Pennywort
Bamboo
Bindweed

Woody Weeds: evergreens (smilax and English ivy), deciduous vines (poison ivy, oriental bittersweet), semi-evergreen (honeysuckle)
