Be familiar with the CODE OF CONDUCT (section VII.) in the Rules & Regulations packet. They were emphatic about not arguing with the umpire. If an ump makes a mistake we have to take it up with the main office the following day. If you're ejected for whatever reason it is a minimum 2 game suspension and you must immediately leave the facility property.
Bats; If it's a slow or fast pitch bat that is 34" or shorter, weighs 38 ounces or less and does not appear on their prohibited list (page 1, page 2) then you're good to go.
Basically stay 'TAGGED UP' if you're on base with less than 2 outs and a ball is popped up in the in field.
Ball out of play or stuck; If a ball is live and bounces of the fence, gets stuck in/under the fence or is interferred with another item that is out of play wave your arms to inform the umpire.
Batting; a fouled ball with 2 stikes results in a strike out.
Batting order; The batting order for COEd shall alternate sexes. If a team's line-up is reduced due to injury, the team may elect to: (1) Take and out for the missing player each time that position comes up in that batting order, or (2) Remove the person immediately before or after the missing player and not be charged an out. If a team's line-up is reduced for any reason other than injury, the team must take an out each time that position comes up in the batting order (if no legal subs are available). There may never be 2 fewer females than males, or 2 fewer males than females in the lineup.
Cleats; Rubber cleats are fine in COED. No metal cleats are allowed.
Defense; COED defensive positioning shall include 2 males, 2 females in the outfield; 2 males, 2 females in the infield; and 1 male and 1 female in the pitcher-catcher positions. NOTE: A team fielding only 9 players must come as close to the above-mentioned positioning as possible. The pitcher ad catcher must always be opposite sexes.
Game balls; The home team furnishes one new game ball (1 male & 1 female) and the visiting team shall furnish one used ball (1 male & 1 female) that is in good condition. The new ball shall be in play when possible.
Game length/ Time Limit Rule; games are 65mins or 7 innings long (unless the slaughter rule goes into affect).
Home team; the second listed team on the schedule. The home team keeps score and sits on the first base side dugout.
HR Rule; There is a limit of six (6) over the fence home runs per team per game. Any over the fence home run in excess of six will be declared an out. A ball that goes over the fence after being touched by a fielder does not count as a home run for the purposes of this rule.
No Fake Tags; A fielder can't pretend to have the ball... is considered obstruction.
NO pets are allowed at Walnut Creek.
Stealing; no stealing is allowed. Base runners can not advance until the batter has made contact with the ball.
Substitutions; If a player has to leave the game and we don't have a substitute we have the option of taking an out in their spot in the batting order or dropping the player just prior or after them in the batting order. An injured player may not re-enter the game.
Tournament information is available in the Rules & Regulations packet. Tournament seeding is set ~3/4 through completion of the regular season.
Uniforms; jerseys or T-shirts must numbered and should be the same color and made of the same material. Jersey switching during the game is prohibited (unless Blood Rule applies).
