N.C. Historical and Genealogical Books

by John A. McGeachy

These pages have their origin in a research project to transcribe the contents of an 1850s manuscript, and to identify the author of "Cape Fear Sketches."

I often used the New Hanover County Pleas & Quarter Sessions Court Minutes while researching the authorship of "Cape Fear Sketches."  A second project naturally followed to transcribe and index the New Hanover County Pleas and Quarter Sessions Minutes for the years 1809-1868.

Links to other class papers on miscellaneous topics that I wrote while enrolled in North Carolina State University's Public History program are also available.

Next, to aid research of my wife's Wilkes County ancestors, I  transcribed and indexed the Wilkes County Pleas & Quarter Sessions count minutes, 1798-1868.

At present, I am seeking my own ancestors by transcribing and indexing the Warren County Pleas & Quarter Sessions court minutes, 1823-1868.
