Issues for students when working with multiple representations of a function

 

·       Students may not see the links between different representations of a functional relation—for example, the mutual dependence between a function’s graph and equation, or between its table and equation.

·       Students may interpret graphs only pointwise, not globally

·       In the course of working on a problem, students may neglect to connect the representation back to the original problem context.
