1. Finish your 3-page Technology review. Be sure
to follow the rubric! Submit the review
via Wolfware by 4:15pm on Sept 20th.
2. Create a geometry exploration for a middle or high
school student in which they must use a PREMADE GSP sketch to investigate
a geometry topic. Sample Topics include: properties of similar
triangles, properties of parallel lines cut by a transversal, sum of
exterior angles of a polygon, area of square as a function of its side length,
circumference of a circle as a function of its diameter (or another topic
you choose)
The write-up of the exploration should include the following.
- A statement of the exploration so students know what they will be investigating. This could be in the form of a question.
- Questions that will guide students through the exploration. Students must be asked to drag, measure or calculate, notice patterns, and make a conjecture
- Include tips or directions on how to do something in GSP (could include screenshots if needed)
- a screen shot of the premade sketch you intend students to use.
- a brief description (1 paragraph or bulleted list) of what you expect students to learn from this activity
- a brief description (1 paragraph or bulleted list) of questions or problems that might arise for students
- Give an example of 1 possible extension/connection to the exploration
Be sure to put your name at the top of the pages. Bring 5 copies of your exploration to class next week. Either staple the 2 pages together, or photocopy 2-sided.
