This work, published not long after I was born, teaches the importance of addressing a text. Its legend, the story of exile in Istanbul during the war, reinforces the idea of having "it" -- a culture, perhaps -- in one's bones. The thesis today is irrelevant, the method outmoded, but it remains a suggestion of what could be done.
