I am a 25 year old Ph.D. candidate in Economics at North Carolina State University.
My dissertation is titled 'Valuing Open Space in a Locational Equilibrium Model of the Twin Cities.' In addition to my academic work, I enjoy being outdoors and have recently discovered that my wife and I both enjoy birding. You can see some of our bird photographs on the photo page linked at the left.

Using housing transactions data from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota going back to 1990, I am developing a horizontal sorting model of both households' demand and builders' supply of housing. Using this model, I am able to determine the value of a variety of open space types and the effects open space provision has on both households' and builders' location decisions. By applying a horizontal sorting model to this problem, I can evaluate both partial and general equilibrium impacts of various policy decisions. Modeling the supply side in addition to the demand side of the market provides the ability to capture land use changes as well as interactions between the two sides of the market.
