Cloud Gate is a 66-foot long by 33-foot high sculpture that sits in Chicago's Millenium Park. It was created by artist Anish Kapoor. This photograph was taken under the sculpture, looking up at the reflections of viewers.

Taylor Creek winds its way through the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch in Gallitan Gateway, Montana, on a beautiful summer evening. A dust cloud kicked up by horses dissipates to the right. The water was very refreshing after an afternoon of hiking.

Rain Over Pasture, Laggan, Scotland, UK.

It started to rain lighely on a teaching excursion walking along the road between Laggan and the Spey Reservoir on the Glenshero Estate. I turned back toward the sun to examine the light, which was magnificent. This image only begins to convey the magic - but it's all I had time for, because the rain stopped as quickly as it started.

Sixteen acres of boulders that accumulated after thousands of freeze-thaw cycles gradually heave rocks to the surface. Rock fields like this are called "periglacial" phenomena and occur at the edge of glaciers and ice sheets.

Giant cane in a natural longleaf pine stand. The area burned 3 years before this photo was taken. Giant cane is common on annually burned sites; because there are hardly any such sites any longer, it has become rather rare.
