Mathematics of Scientific Computing

Many problems in Engineering and the Sciences involve large systems of equations.

Topics: approximation of functions, numerical integration, numerical methods for ordinary differential equations, Fourier analysis and applications

Final grade: determined by projects during the semester (80%) and a final exam (1:00-4:00, Fri., May 1, 20%). The students are welcome to think about the projects in group. Redaction and submission can also be done in groups (of 1, 2 or 3 students). The members of the group share the grade. Typesetting is encouraged but not required. Late submissions will be not accepted. The exams are individual and closed book.
