I am an insect ecologist with a broad range of interests, including population and landscape ecology, ecosystem services, and conservation.  In my research, I aim to contribute both to solving real-world problems and to answering basic questions in ecology.  My research centers around using innovative landscape approaches to understand what drives species distributions and abundances.  Understanding these factors is important whether our aim is to reduce populations, as is the case of agricultural pests, or to bolster them, as is the goal in conservation and endangered species management.  I ask questions in a range of managed systems, from agricultural fields to protected lands on military bases.  For more information, please see my research page.  Find out more about me on my contact information page.
