CSC/ECE 501 Waiting List

Use this form to put your name on the waiting list for CSC/ECE 501.

Name: First (given) Middle Last (family)

Student number: Preferred E-mail address:

Which course? Note: CSC 501 and ECE 501 are the same course, held in the same classroom at the same time. Because the course is cross-listed, it has two different numbers.

CSC 501 only
Prefer CSC 501, but ECE 501 OK
ECE 501 only
Prefer ECE 501, but CSC 501 OK

Date by which you must have a decision:
The date you specify here determines your priority for the waiting list. The goal is to inform students in a timely manner of whether they will get into the class. When a vacancy occurs in either CSC 501 or ECE 501, it will be filled by the student who prefers this course and has specified the earliest decision date among all students who prefer this course. If no student on the waiting list prefers this course, then the vacancy will be filled by the student with the earliest decision date who prefers the other course but is willing to enroll in this course.

If your decision date passes and you are not yet admitted to the course, your name will be removed from the waiting list. You may reapply on the waiting list, but you will not be allowed to register for the course unless and until all students currently on the waiting list have been admitted.

At this point, the waiting list is very short. I expect everyone on the waiting list to be admitted if they specify late enough date (probably the end of the first week of classes or afterwards). But this is not a guarantee!

Note that August 31 is the last date to register for the course without the dean's approval. Specifying a later date may complicate the registration process. October 16 is the last day to drop the course without the dean's approval. If you have not been admitted by then, there is essentially no chance you will get in.
