Research Opportunities:

Our research group is currently working on various fundamental topics in networking including wireless networks, mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET), congestion control, peer-to-peer networked systems, etc. I have some openings for PhD-level students and/or Post-Doc under the NSF projects on mobility modeling, design and control of mobile networks as listed in my homepage. If you are interested in joining our research group, please note the following before contacting me.

  1. You must be very strong in analytical tools and mathematics with proven records. Required analytic tools are probability theory, measure theory, optimization, stochastic process, to name a few.

  2. You should have basic understanding of current literature in networking; You are encouraged to read articles in journals and IEEE magazine, and conference proceedings. Example includes IEEE Network magazine, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE INFOCOM, ACM MobiCoom, MobiHoc, Sigcomm, Sigmetrics, among others.

  3. I usually work with PhD students. Under "very rare" circumstance I will hire MS students.

  4. Experience with network simulator (such as ns-2, opnet) are strongly preferred, if you already have strong analytical backgrounds as stated in item 1 above

  5. I hire students only after I work with the student at least for a semester, if the student is already at NCSU.

To have better feeling of what research problems are being studied in my lab, see recent papers as posted in my homepage. If you are still interested in working with me and believe that you're qualified, please send me email along with your resume and representative papers (if any) showing your research record or potential.
