Complex Variables with Applications by Brown and Churchill, 8th edition

Prerequisites:

MA 242

Class Description:

Complex numbers, functions of a complex variable, derivatives, analytic functions, integrals, elementary functions, multivalued functions, power series, residue theory and applications, conformal maps

Class Policy:

Regular class attendance is expected. Homework will not be collected. However, solving homework problems is an important part of preparation for tests in the class. Travel plans cannot be considered as a reason for making up the exams

Exams:

• Exam 1: Thursday, February 28
• Exam 2: Thursday, April 19
• Final exam: Thursday, May 3, 1:00–4:00 pm

Grading:

• Exams 60%
• Final exam 40%
• A: 85–100, B: 75–84, C: 65–74, D: 55–64, F: below 55, with the cutoffs for the +/- grades determined at the end of the semester

Calculators:

Simple (nonprogrammable) calculators are allowed
