Background
I
am a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University.
I have strong background in statistics. Previously,
I
received my M.S. from the
Department of
Applied Mathematics and Statistics at State University of New York at
Stony
Brook in May, 2005, under professor Nancy Mendell. I
was a
research statistician at the University of Pittsburgh School of
Medicine at
Research Behavioral Genetics Group. My previous research focuses
on biostatistics,
specially statistical genetics and epidemiological
psychiatry. After finished my M.S., I
was working with Dr. Shirley Hill and Dr.
Abigail Matthews. The majority
of my
work at UPMC was spent analyzing a long term study of children from
families
with a history of alcoholism. I used a random coefficient model to
estimate
growth curve parameters on the time series of observations per subject
and
survival analysis for time to event data.
