Professional Development
This section of the portfolio focuses on how I am developing both my pedagogical and technical skills in an effort to continual improve my ability as a teacher. The bulk of this section is dominated by my participation in the CoAT program which has equipped me with the majority of my pedagogical training. I also put high value on being technologically relevant and as a result you will find my industry experience highlighted on the left as well as a section below that illustrates how I attempt to stay technically in tune with the state-of-the-art in my field.
Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching (CoAT)
The Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching (CoAT) program at NC State provides graduate students a chance to demonstrate their commitment to teaching excellence through training, evaluation, and recognition. Through critical reflection and application, participants learn the fundamental components of pedagogy, enriching their personal growth and professional development in teaching and learning.
As part of this program I attended a series of workshops that were designed to both refine my teaching style and equip me with additional tools for use in the classroom. Details of the workshops I attended can be found below and additional information on the CoAT program can be found on their website.

Classroom Observations
Each year as an instructor I have been evaluated by a senior instructor for at least one class period. Their evaluations provide a third party perspective from someone who has stood in the place that I'm currently standing and can give genuine and honest feedback. Below you will find copies of both evaluations which include my reflections on each evaluation.
Technical Advancement
In addition to the time I spend developing my teaching skills it is important that I spend time developing my technical knowledge base. To that end I attempt to attend both local and international conferences in the areas in which I will be instructing. Below you will find a list of conferences I recently attended as either a participant or presenter.
