O-Scale Radio Receiver Cars

Southern Railway

Norfolk Southern

ITS HERE!:
-Nov 15 2009: I have taken photos
for additional instructions for 3R kits. Just some extra cutting. No biggie. I have a pilot model now for 3R,
3RS, and 2R, all in various schemes, including NS. The NS was done using two microscale sets. See below for
pictures of all pilot models. Still a decent amount of kits left for all those who are interested. I will soon
update the site with pricing for completed kits, etc. Use the form below if you desire a finished car.
-Sep 28 2009: I have begun shipping out preorders. You
can still order your kits by using the form at the bottom of this page. Kits are boxed and ready to ship. Be sure to include an address
so I can quote you exact shipping via USPS Priority Mail. I have updated whats included. There is a complete parts breakdown now. Note
that the Weaver trucks are metal diecast insulted 2R and 3R trucks. I did not skimp out and buy plastic trucks. This kit also includes a
steel weight and will be weighed down nicely. Coming soon: Additional instructions and pictures for 3R kits. Also, a picture of how
to decal this car for NS and what it would look like.
-Sep 6 2009: I have 50 out of the 100 kits in my hands. I
have all components here, I just need to fold up all the boxes and get everything together into the same box which will be time consuming. I
have edited the list of items included at the bottom of this page. The instructions turned out fantastic thanks to Jim King. A paper copy
will be included in the kits. I can provide electronic copies if necessary. Extremely high
quality kit here; there will be nothing but impressed customers thanks to Jim King.
I am emailing preorders now. Anyone else that is interested, feel free to use the form below. Final cost per kit is $99.99 plus exact shipping. Thanks all for your support.
-Jun 21 2009: The pilot model is complete. Pictures are at
the bottom of this page. All parts are in my hands except instructions and actual bodys/underframes. I had my pilot model in the model
contest and it won 2nd place in Non-Revenue Cars at O Scale National this past weekend. What a phenominal job Jim did with casting and making this kit. I
should have kits priced and ready to go out to preordered customers within 2 months. Will keep you updated. Perhaps its time to start
thinking about the next car people want done. Thanks for reading.
-Jun 1 2009: The model is almost ready
folks. I'm getting my pilot model in about a week or so, so I may start working on it. Jim will also be casting all
100 models soon. I have added pictures of the model being used for the master mold. These are near the bottom of the
page. Decals are also in my hand. They
are amazing. I plan to have a finished sample at OSN in Baltimore. Folks, if you want one of these, you better say
something to me asap. You're in for a real treat. Enjoy.
-Apr. 27 2009: CAD work
is 100% done. The SLAs were made and Jim is currently working on casting the 100 kits. Again, there are only 100 being made. Over half are
spoken for! I am working with Weaver to have trucks available to you for this kit in a one-stop shop deal. Kits will more than likely be
available without them due to a supply shortage on this front. Decals have been approved and are being made as I speak. They literally contain EVERYTHING one needs to letter one of these in
Southern Block (wheel inspection dots, etc). I've also found a way to get these decalled in NS, but it will unfortunately cost the modeler a
little extra. We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll keep those who preordered informed. Stay tuned.
-Mar. 13 2009: Jim is finishing up some of the last touches on the
CAD. This includes the radio antennas and the MU connectors as well as adjusting the bolsters for weaver's 2R 33" wheels. If anyone knows of
anyone selling 3R 33" wheels, let me know.
-Jan. 26 2009: More EXACT Kit Details have been added. Some
various angles of the CAD Work have been added to the site as well. Amazing work. There are currently issues with the trucks that are being taken
care of at this time and have delayed the project.
-Jan. 25 2009: Website is back up. CAD work is 99% finished.
There is a trucks issue. Many kits are claimed. If you want to make sure you get a piece of history, please use the form below to make sure
you're getting one of these kits. I will update this site within the next week with all of the details of the kit and some pictures of CAD design

My Mission:
I wanted a Scale, Prototypical Southern Radio
Receiver Car not only for myself, but for other O-Scalers. I wanted us to
have a chance to own a unique piece of history!
Well, It's here!
I commissioned Jim King to make this kit possible. This car is not ready-to-run, but will have everything necessary
except glue, paint, and some basic modeling skills.
Southern Railway's cars were custom-built in 1966 by Berwick Forge & Foundry. Thus the reason only the SR and NS had them and why
this is such a unique car and can only be done in urethane kit form.
Mission Complete!

If you know of anyone interested in this car, pass this website along. No Southern Railway or Norfolk Southern modeler should go
without this kit. This car is truly unique to both the SR and NS. If you've never built a kit before, this is the perfect chance.
Its an easy kit and with extremely detailed instructions. The feeling you'll have everytime you run one of these cars that you
made will be much more rewarding than the regular freight car you bought off the shelf at your local hobby shop.
This is a beginner's kit that anyone can enjoy putting together. This car is unique and will
never be done with injection-molded plastic. This will be your only chance to own this unique
car. Only 100 were made. No extras will be made.
I am just a stepping stone; without your help this project is nothing. Thank you all for your interest and support.
Future Kits:
Depending on how well the radio car kit does as well as future economic conditions, I am
looking at releasing more SOU prototype cars. Please speak up if interested. Here are the
three main kits I'm looking and already have some interest in.
-Southern Bay Window Caboose

-Southern Low-Side Gondola

-Southern(NS) Pullman-Standard Waffle Side Boxcar

Below is a Comment Form. Please use this if you have questions, comments, and/or want to put your name down with a desired
quantity. I use this to keep track of orders and information on future kits.
Thank you for your support.
