My research interests are in linear/nonlinear equations, multilevel methods for integral equations , radiative transfer problems, optimal control , large scale optimization , optimization of noisy functions , and flow in porous media . I am a proud member of the NCSU Numerical Analysis Group and am very active in SIAM

I distribute MATLAB software for Linear Equations, Nonlinear Equations, and Optimization . Our group supports MATLAB codes for optimization of noisy functions.

Kelly Dickson has left the building. She's moving to Boston to work for MIT Lincoln Labs.

John Chrispell is my first academic grandchild and Lea's first PhD student. He's the guy with the tie on in this picture.

Kai Fan has joined the group as a postdoc. He'll be working on electronic structure calculations.

David Mokrauer has joined the group as a PhD student. He'll be working on optimization and nanoscale sensing.

Version 0.6 of my implicit filtering code in MATLAB is now ready for your beta-testing. I've fixed a few bugs and added some functionality. If you are still using 0.5 and are happy, you need not switch. v0.7 will incorporate major changes. I am no longer supporting the old FORTRAN code.

The codes from my optimization book have been translated into Scilab . It's all here.
