Teaching and Research Portfolio

Greetings and thank you for looking at my teaching and research portfolio.  I am an assistant professor and the distance education coordinator in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing & Nutrition Science at North Carolina State University.  I created this website to share my background, interests, artifacts of my work, and teaching philosophy.

All three of my degrees are in Food Science.  My studies began at the  University of Idaho, which led to Purdue University and most recently North Carolina State University.  Throughout my student days I enjoyed numerous quality assurance and research and development jobs and internships in industry with companies such as Nestle, General Mills, Heinz, SYSCO Foodservices, Schreiber Foods, and Kraft Oscar Mayer.  While I enjoy the challenges and tangible results experienced in industry, my desire is to use my background and talent to make positive contributions in teaching, research and mentoring.

My current activities include coordinating and teaching a distance education Food Safety Certificate Series and starting a research program.  This website will be updated from time to time to document these activities.

About Me

“… So what the school has to do, in the first place, is to make us learn how to learn, to whet our appetites for knowledge, to teach us the delight of doing a job well and the excitement of creativity, to teach us to love what we do, and to help us find what we love to do.”
