Offered
over three and one-half weeks during Summer Session I, the MAC Study Abroad program
gives Master of Accounting students at NC State an opportunity
to participate in a short-term international exchange program.
Hosted by NC State College of Design's Prague Institute, MAC
students have the benefit of an
established campus in the heart of
Prague's historic Old Town. Resident Director, Dana Bartelt, an NC
State Alumnus and Czech native, oversees operations at the Institute
and is an invaluable support resource for students.
This
summer's trip will be led by NC State professor, Bruce Branson and
his wife, Kelly McCall Branson. Bruce and Kelly have accompanied MAC
students to Prague the past two summers and have visited Vienna and
Munich. They will be available to guide students on cultural,
entertaining and dining excursions and will host several group
dinners.
Students may complete three credit hours of required
graduate-level coursework, including ACC 510 - Accounting for
Mergers and Acquisitions, ACC 511 - Accounting for
Derivatives
Accommodations at the hotel Domov
Mládeže are in a quiet residential neighborhood,
a quick tram or metro ride from the
Institute.
Organized activities are arranged to enhance students' immersion in
the Czech culture — a night at a jazz club, a
visit to the Museum of Communism, or an evening of theater. Weekend
excursions to locations further afield, like Munich, Vienna and Southern
Bohemia, are also part of the
experience. And students are encouraged to explore the many rich
dining, cultural, entertainment and shopping opportunities that
Prague has to offer.
