Activities held at the Beef Educational Unit:
  • Farm Animal Days
    • Kids from different schools and clubs can visit the unit and get to see farm animals up close.  The event is typically held the first of April every year and they welcome all students and organizations to join in.  We typically have turkeys, chickens, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and all other types of animals for the kids to look at.
  • Animal Science Club day and reunion
    • Every year the animal science club uses the facillilty for their club day.   This consists of activities and events to help bring the club together.  They also have an alumni reunion where the graduates can come back and visit with old freinds and teachers.
  • Meetings and Conferences
    • The building has a very nicely equipped classroom that can be used to hold conferences and meetings.  Several organizations have begun to hold their annual conferences their.
  • Open Field days
    • The unit has an open field day twice a year in the spring and the fall where they open their doors to the publica and allow guests to come visit the unit.  They have numerous displays and give guided tours of all of the field laboratories during the day.
  • Livestock Judging Contest
    • Since the building is large enough this year will be the first year the State 4-H Livestock Judging contest will be held here.  But over the past few years they have been other mock livestock judging contest held at the facilities.
  • Forage Trials
    • Every year their are several trials done to try to help the management of the forage resources for the cattle.  Numerous professors have done work to see what types of grasses the cattle prefer and what types of forages have the most nutritional value to the cattle.
