The project in discourse and change is an ongoing examination of the textual dynamics of change. Our goals are to better understand the influence and function of communication during and throughout a change process and to develop tools for studying the intersections of language and change in dynamic human settings. To date, we have developed three inter-related projects:

Empirical studies of change:

Nanotechnology:

Emergence & Stabilization 1986-2007

Emergence of nanotechnology in popular media

Societal dynamics of nanotechnology
Change, organizations, ethics

Image & narrative in organizational change

Implementation of a new IT platform in a small organization
Strategies: Opposing change

Opposing change in an electronic community

Recent

Technology Implementation:
Pfizer and Exubera

Implementing a new technology requires the creation of salient networks. Were sufficient network conditions established to successfully instantiate and ultimately stabilize a new insulin delivery technology?
