It's 5pm...the Bell Tower sounds...John, Kim, and Jennifer are leaving
the building after their class. It's Wednesday, and Jennifer is talking
about a paper she has due on Monday. The library is going to be closed over
the weekend because of Fall Break so she doesn't know how she will do the
paper. John tells her not to worry because he works in the library and has
keys to the door. He says that he will let Jennifer in to do her research,
and he will bring Kim along to keep him company while Jennifer is working on
her paper. They all agree to meet at the library at 7pm. Kim and Jennifer,
who are roommates, go back to their room to get ready.
Jennifer and Kim are now back at their dorm. They put their books down, turn
on the radio, and start to talk about the upcoming night. Kim picks up a
picture of her and John and looks at it. Jennifer notices something on the
back. It's a note from John that says, "till death do us part". Kim then
tells Jennifer that John wants to get married after graduation. Jennifer
says something about how she wishes she had someone in her life and starts to
get a little sad. To avoid this situation, Kim suggests they have to hurry
so they can get back from eating in time to meet John at 7. So, they
leave.
It's now 7pm...Jennifer and Kim pull into the parking lot at the library as
the Bell Tower chimes 7pm. They get out and walk up the steps to the
library. As they wonder where John is at, he jumps out of the darkness and
scares them. John then says that they should go ahead to the library, so
they all go up to the library, John unlocks the door, and they all enter.
After they are in the library, they start walking toward the reference
section. Jennifer explains that her paper is on 18th century resurrection
practices. She also explains that the book she needs has been put in the
reference section by her professor because it's so old, it can't be checked
out. Kim and John decide they will go up into the book stacks to 'study',
and they leave Jennifer on the bottom floor to work on her paper.
Kim and John are in the elevator. They are trying to decide which floor they
should 'study' on. Kim tells John to check out the 8th floor, and she will
check out the 7th. The elevator stops on the 7th floor, and she gets out.
John continues to the 8th floor and gets out.
Meanwhile, Jennifer is still on the bottom floor. By now, she has found the
table that the book is on, and has it open reading and taking notes. She
reads out loud some passages to herself, including one about how a witch in
the 18th century used to conjure up dead spirits to kill people that had
harmed her in some way. However, the book also states that sometimes spirits
don't do exactly what they're supposed to, and this particular witch ended up
being killed by such a spirit. Jennifer finishes reading this section which
contains the spell used to conjure up a dead spirit. She says something to
herself about how ridiculous all of this is and starts to write.
Back on the 7th floor, Kim is looking for a place where she and John can have
sex. She walks down a couple of rows, and just sees hard chairs and desks.
She finally finds a couch at the end of a long corridor. She walks down to
check out the couch, and when she gets near it, the dead spirit Jennifer
conjured up grabs her neck and pulls her down on the couch. She screams a
couple of times, but then her screaming stops and her body falls on the
floor. The dead spirit then raises up and looks up at the ceiling. He
senses John on the 8th floor. He gets up and begins to walk away.
Back on the 1st floor, Jennifer is asleep. In her dream, she is sitting
there writing her paper. All of a sudden, the spirit comes up out of nowhere
and puts his hand on Jennifer's shoulder. Jennifer then jumps up from her
sleep, and decides to go see if John and Kim are all right.
Up on the 8th floor, John is coming back to the elevator. He pushes the
button, waits a second, and the elevator opens. Jennifer pops out and
surprises him. She says she was just making sure everything was OK with them
before she got too deep into her paper. John tells her the situation, and
that they'll be on the 7th floor. John says he thinks he hears the
elevator coming up, and she should get back to her paper. Jennifer gets back
on the elevator and the door closes. The elevator door starts to open, and
John hides so he can scare Kim. He jumps out, but finds the dead spirit in
front of him. John is speechless as he is stabbed to death. As John falls
to the floor, the dead spirit looks up to the elevator lights. He sees the
numbers changing from 3 to 2 to 1, and he knows there is one more person in
the library. He calls the elevator, takes John's belt, gets in the elevator,
and proceeds down to the first floor.
Jennifer comes out of the elevator on the first floor and walks over to her
chair where she was working on her paper. The other elevator opens in the
background, and the dead spirit comes out and starts walking over toward
Jennifer and taking his belt off. She thinks John has come down, but when
she finally turns around, she sees that it's not. He chokes her to death
with the belt, and Jennifer falls to the floor dead. The dead spirit then
walks over to the book Jennifer had been reading, flips a few pages, and
mutters a phrase. He disappears and the video ends.
