Activities

Below are several examples of activities or lessons that I have used in classes. With each activity, I have included the context in which the activity was used as well as a reflection on the activity.

Building Toward a Final Exam

In Communication Theory, I utilized a variety of activities that built toward the students' final essay exam.

What is Theory?

This sample lesson comes from early in the semester of Communication Theory and allowed students to explore what we mean by theory.

Putting Nonverbal Channels into Action

When approaching the various channels of nonverbal communication, I wanted to engage students by drawing on their own experiences. Students worked in groups to demonstrate to their classmates various channels of nonverbal communication.

Reviewing Interpersonal Communication

Before each mini-test in Interpersonal Communication, I used students' own questions as a means of reviewing key ideas.
