Andrew L. Beam, PhD student - NCSU

About Me

My name is Andrew Beam and I am a PhD student in Bioinformatics at N.C. State. As an undergrad, I received three degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering also from N.C. State. In 2011 I completed my M.Sc. in statistics with a concentration in statistical genetics under the direction of Dr. Alison Motsinger-Reif and Dr. Richard Judson. During this time I worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Center for Computational Toxicology.

I am now working toward my PhD under the direction of Dr. Jon Doyle with a graduate minor in Cognitive Science. My current research focuses on Artificial Intelligence in medicine and genetics, with the goal of improving clinical experiences through the use of intelligent systems.
