"Men ought to know that from nothing else but the brain come joys, delights, laughter and sports, and sorrows, griefs, despondency, and lamentations... And by the same organ we become mad and delirious, and fears and terrors assail us, some by night, and some by day..."

-Hippocrates

Welcome to Brain Boxing

Brain Trauma

The Knockout Punch

Much is needed for your brain to function. You need K+ and Na+, Ca2+ and Cl-. You need myelin and axons, neurons and gila. The Brain is a delicate matrix and as such vulnerable to disease and disruption. Maturation of your CNS is, among other things, susceptible to auto-immune attack and substance abuse. There are many ways healthy processing can go wrong but physical trauma is the most striking! There is NO clearer example of this than Mohammed Ali or Duk Koo Kim. The Brain reveals its importance through the dramatic display of boxing. A boxer must think. He must apply his wit to hit his opponent with a punch to the chin. Alternately if he doesn't think, he makes himself vulnerable. Less obvious disruptions of the mind don't require blunt force to exacerbate, but mental illnesses are every bit as dramatic. This site will try and portray that every mental disorder is physical and a traumatic experience can be just as devastating to your Brain as a punch to the head. Enjoy!
