Projects
One of the primary functions of the Sustainability Investment is to sponser projects which will minimize our environmental footprint at North Carolina State University.
Potential projects will:
- Aid the conversion of current non-LEED certified buildings into LEED silver-certified retrofits
- Purchase alternative energy
- Pay mini-grants for student sustainable projects
- Sponser Research, Education, and Outreach events
Example projects include, but are not limited to:
- Solar Hot Water Heater project at Carmichael Gymnasium.
- PC Energy Management Software Campus-wide with a savings of $15-$40 per PC annually.
- LED lighting in Dan Parking Deck
- LED Entire brickyard and far side of Free Expression Tunnel
- Building Floor Lighting Upgrades (T12 to T8 lamps, magnetic to electronic ballasts)
- Faucet aerators and low-flow shower heads
- Irrigation system controls upgrade
