Syllabus: Second of three semesters in a calculus sequence for science and engineering majors.
The topics we will cover include:
Required Text:
James Stewart, Calculus, 2nd edition.
Homework: Homework will be assigned, but not collected. However, many homework problems, with or without slight modifications, will appear in quizzes and tests (so will the examples that I work on in my lectures). Thus, it is absolutely imperative to work on each of the assigned problems.
Maple Lab Schedule:
January 22, February 12, March 5, March 26, April 9.
All Labs will take place in HA 314, 4:35-5:30PM.
Tests: There will be ten quizzes, four tests during the semester and a comprehensive final exam.
Quizzes: There will be ten quizzes during the semester.
Tests: February 5, March 3, March 26, April 23.
Final Exam: May 12, 1:00-4:00PM .
Missed tests:
There will be no makeup tests/quizzes.
If you miss a final exam without a valid excuse, a zero will be averaged into your grade.
Grading:
Class tests - 40%, final examination -35%, quizzes - 15%,
Maple Lab homework - 10%.
In computing your quiz average I
will drop the lowest 3 grades.
The homework and quizzes grades will only count if the weighted average grade on class tests and the final exam is 60 or above.
