Prerequisites: MA 101 or equivalent completed in high school.
Syllabus: Elementary matrix algebra including arithmetic operations, inverses, and systems of equations; introduction to linear programming including simplex method; sets and counting techniques, elementary probability including conditional probability; Markov chains; applications in the behavioral, managerial and biological sciences. Computer use for completion of assignments.

Tentative schedule of homework due dates, tests:
Homework: All homework assignments for MA 114 are submitted through WEB ASSIGN.
You are responsible for completing each webassign homework by the deadline posted on the assignment.
Tests: September 18, October 21, November 13.
Final exam: December 11, 8-11AM.
Grading: Three 75 minutes tests - 30%, WebAssignments - 40%,
final exam (cumulative, covers entire course) - 30%.
There will be no makeup tests/exams.
If you miss a test/final exam without a valid excuse, a zero will be averaged into your grade.
If you are forced to miss a test/final exam, an excuse from a doctor or other appropriate authorities must be
presented.
If the excuse is accepted, your other course work will be adjusted so that you will not be penalized.
