Chi Psi Fraternity at NC State University

The past year at Alpha Pi Delta has been an exciting one. We have graduated three Brothers this year, including former president Justin Froeber, who has accepted a position with the Central Office. We also welcomed eight new gentlemen into the bonds, each of whom brings great energy and passion to the brotherhood. By initiating men of such character and ability the future of Pi Delta is surely a bright one.

This year had a theme of resurgence, and of turning a new page. The three brothers initiated in the fall semester started contributing immediately by coordinating events, recruiting throughout the year, and helping our spring pledge class excel. Our spring class, in addition to earning high marks from the brotherhood during their pledge education, was involved extensively in the community and boasted one of the highest average GPAs of any incoming pledge class on campus.

The Alpha made a goal to increase our involvement on campus, in the community, and with other Alphas in the region. Pi Delta brothers participated in Shack a Thon (a Habitat for Humanity charity), numerous blood drives, canned food drives, and raised money for the Special Olympics though an event hosted by the NCSU Campus Police. Furthermore, brothers of Alpha Pi Delta stayed active in the community through service events put on by other organizations on campus including the Chi Omega pancake dinner, Delta Zeta's wing-eating contest, and other charity fundraisers. Not to be forgotten is our annual Pink Tie Benefit Ball, which raised over $700 this year for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The Brotherhood also made a point of reaching out and being active with other Alphas. A sizeable contingent represented Alpha Pi Delta at the Rowe regional leadership conference, and at Alpha Upsilon Delta's 25th anniversary celebration. Brothers also helped organize a joint effort between Alpha Sigma and Alpha Pi Delta to attend the Carolina Cup, a social highlight for the year. Brothers were also involved in more individual efforts; Brother Lawrence represented the Alpha at the Midyear Leadership Retreat and Brother Spiers traveled to Minnesota to assist Alpha Nu with their spring initiation. We feel that a great deal can be learned through collaboration with our fellow Alphas and this year's involvement is but the first step towards increased inter-Alpha cooperation.

In all, Pi Delta brothers gave over 500 hours of service to the community, and were involved in numerous committees, clubs and organizations on campus ranging from History and Marketing clubs to Intramural Sports referees and Resident Advisors in the dorms. It was a very big year for Alpha Pi Delta on campus and we look forward to building on the foundations laid this year. With a solid team of devoted gentlemen in place, Alpha Pi Delta looks forward to making our tenth year our best yet!
