Venditti has been active in research pertaining to the utilization of renewable resources to produce new products, fiber properties, separation operations in the paper industry including paper recycling, the rapid detection of recovered paper grades for automatic sorting. He is also active in the development of efficient processes to convert lignocellulosic biomass to energy for society. Current ongoing research involves the conversion of starch and hemicelluloses into advanced particles and gels, fractionation of recycled papermaking fibers, separation of pressurized screening of deformable tacky contaminants in paper recycling, the characterization of different types of waters and their interactions with cellulose fibers, extraction of chemicals from biomass, conversion of paper residues into ethanol, and the strength properties of recycled fibers. Venditti is on the International Advisory board of Progress in Paper Recycling. He was awarded the Investigator of the Year Award by the American Forest and Paper Association in 2000 for research involving the removal of waxes from containerboard using supercritical carbon dioxide. Venditti teaches Chemical Process Control and Unit Operations of Pulp and Paper. He was named outstanding Advisor for the Wood and Paper Science Department in 2002 and 2004. Venditti is the director of the Hands-on Workshop for Pulp and Paper Basics, co-sponsored by NCSU and Tappi.
