  Research Paper Proposal: Due Monday, April 2

1-2 pages double-spaced statement of question or problem; 1-2 pages preliminary Works Cited, single-spaced within entries, double between. Standard margins (top & bottom 1" margins; right and left 1.25" margins). If you have any other format questions, ask me.

Your proposal should articulate a research question of interest to you, will be engaged with some idea(s) gleaned from Nixon's anthology, and will be situated within some knowledge of other relevant published work on your topic. Topics may be on individual novels, multiple novels, novelists, but all must small and focused enough to be workable in a seminar paper of 12-15 pages.  In one or two pages pose a question, explain why you find it interesting, and propose a preliminary hypothesis about it. 

Each proposal will end in a preliminary bibliography of at least 8 items of scholarship, with 4 of those from the last 20 years.

 Entries will follow the form in
MLA Handbook, 7th edition.
