The Nikon F4 FAQ (Version 6.1)

Revised 5.18.2006

This FAQ is dedicated to the proposition that the Nikon F4 camera body remains Nikon's best and most complete combination of ergonomic design, flexibility, autofocus capacity, electronic metering, together with traditional Nikon quality in production, finish, convenience, flexibility, and features.

In this age of digital cameras, the Nikon F4 remains  a viable camera choice for photographers who value traditional camera handling and the permanence and ease of use that film provides. In addition to all the traditional flexibility of film and the wet darkroom, you may shoot an image with an F4, scan it with a Nikon film scanner, and you have a 124 megabyte file that is easily refined and printed in the digital darkroom.

This FAQ is the work of NikonJohn (John N. Wall). It is dedicated to fans of the Nikon F4 worldwide. I am grateful to all those who have provided other materials on the F4 and whose resources are linked to this site.

I am also grateful to you for your patience with the old site while I have been working on other projects. By the time I returned to work on the site, practically all the links to other sites were dead. So much good information on the F4 is available now on other sites (especially the Photography in Malaysia site) that I almost decided to drop this effort, but I enjoy the work and learn about website production in the process, so I have launched this revision.

One day I will learn to do Frames in html and then this site will be easier to maneuver; in the meantime, there is a CONTENTS page which will get you to all parts of the site. Each individual subject page has a link back to the CONTENTS page to help you maneuver.

Please continue to forward corrections, comments, especially about possible format enhancements, and proposed additions to the database to me at jnwallphoto@gmail.com. You may also view my own work, shot mainly with my F4 bodies, at my photography website, viewable at http://www.jnwallphoto.com
