Lesson 4: LR Circuit and Variable Time Steps
The objective of this lesson is to use Matlab to model an LR circuit. Variable time steps are needed in many problems where the solution changes from almost linear curves (can use larger time steps) to curves with larger curvatures (need to use smaller time steps).
In lessons 5 and 6 we will introduce higher
order methods. And in lesson 7 we will start to use a Matlab application called
ode45, which uses a combination of variable time steps and higher order
methods.
