Tennessee - Clingmans Dome 6,643'
| We bagged Clingmans Dome in October 2002 during the remains of tropical storm Lilly. The fog and wind were simply amazing, almost worth the total loss of views. The drive up was beautiful until we entered the clouds, and then we were wishing we'd put on our fleece as we trudged up to the alien space ship landing pod they built on top of Tennessee (I can say that, TN is my home state.) Number 11 for Dan and De, and #5 for Otis. We were in transit so we did not stop and play around much in the Smokies, but obviously there is enough hiking to last a lifetime around here. | ||
