2010 North Carolina Computer Music Festival

Event 1: 60x60 Video Concert

Ballroom, Talley Student Center, North Carolina State University, 4pm Monday, September 13

The video version of the 2007 International Mix will be presented. 60 works by 60 composers each lasting 60 seconds or less. These 60 musical compositions were made into 60 short films by director Zlatko Cosic. The show provides a wide range of music and video interpretation and if you don't like something, JUST WAIT A MINUTE!

Event 2: Evening Concert

Francis Dhomont: Artifices

McGregor Boyle: Yahaney Inlet; Cody Rex, string bass

Realtime interactive works together with "tape" pieces on this concert featuring three performers from around the state of North Carolina. References range from Homer's Odyssey to Jane Eyre to coastal South Carolina!

Event 3: Panel Discussion

Ballroom, Talley Student Center, North Carolina State University, 10:15am, Tuesday, September 14

Participants will talk about their working methods, philosophy, and techniques and respond to questions.

We celebrate Larry Austin's 80th birthday (September 12, 2010) with a presentation of his "tape" piece Djuro's Tree, which received its world premiere in Raleigh at an Arts NOW Series event. Also presented are the films, "Rotunda", with computer music by Judith Shatin, and "Horizons" along with Boyle's "Pepper".

McGregor Boyle: Landfall II: Flaming Skull; McGregor Boyle, guitar

Music for clarinet, flute, and guitar plus tape pieces on the final concert of the festival. References range from Japanese woodblock prints, to Chester County, to the psychology of pick-up lines!
