Electric Field of a Dipole as a Function of
Spacing Between the Charges

It is interesting to note that the magnitude of the electric field along the midplane actually goes through a maximum as the spacing between the two point charges varies. (Note that an electric dipole will not oscillate of its own accord; some external force must be applied.)
