Websites to visit

I don't spend a whole lot of time surfing the web, but there are a few places that I regularly go for news and information. I can recommend salon.com as a source of interesting news and comment.

I really don't see the point of blogs, but I occasionally check out DailyKos, just to feel like I'm in the loop.

And, even though I don't really see the point of blogs, I can recommend another in this category -- majikthise, which combines analytic philosophy and liberal politics.

I guess that makes two interesting sites whose point I still can't quite see.

Speaking of interests, here's a guy who had a whole bunch of them -- the amazing Leibniz.

Stuff I'm interested in

I have a few interests outside of the strictly academic stuff. These include.

  • Distance Running. I ran cross country years ago and did some competitive road racing in college, but gave it up for more than twenty years. I've started to get back into the sport over the last few years. This page has a lot of running-related material.

  • Coffee. I've developed a serious interest in espresso. Of course, I know I'm not addicted to the stuff, since I could quit any time I want. Fortunately, I never want to quit.

  • Sudoku. I've become a moderately serious sudoku freak, although the pathology is well under control. This page has some nifty links and sudoku-related stuff.

  • Humor. Networked computers would be at best of marginal interest without the funny stuff. Here are the sites that keep me amused.
