  • About Me

    Hi, I am Aaron Srivastava, a Biomedical engineering student at North Carolina State University. I'm concentrating in Bioinstrumentation and will be graduating May 2015.

    In the fall of 2014, I have organized the first BME Networking Event with University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. During Spring 2015, I will be organizing the first Triangle Biomedical Engineering Career Fair with Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill.

    My experience led me to become a counselor for a week long biodesign summer camp for high schoolers. This camp combined entrepreneurial spirit and biomedical design. There is more information about this program in the experience section.


    I am involved with the NCSU Biomedical Engineering Club. As the 2014-2015 President, I work to provide fellow BME students with professional opportunites and student interaction.

    I am also very passionate about entrepreneurial endeavors and have been actively involved with the Engineering Entrepreneur Program (EEP). Through my experience with EEP, I helped in the formation of Illithiya Birthing Bed.

    I also took part in the first Triangle Start Up Weekend Health. That weekend, HeartThrob Cardio emerged as the winner of best customer validation.

    My newest endeavor is through the NCSU BME Senior Design Program. The team and I are working to develop a novel medical device for Spinal Cord Stimulation procedures as a sustainable business.

    The Human Machine 2014 Summer Camp - Camp Counselor
    • Assisted in designing a week long curriculum at a level appropriate for participates and time contraints
    • Guided rising juniors and seniors in high school through an abbrevated Biodesign process
    • Contributed instrumentation knowledge to help group develop and make an electronic stethscope

    Genalyte Incorporated - Research and Development Intern
    • Developed efficient and sensitive multiplex biological assays for metabolic diseases using Genalyte’s proprietary photonic assaying technology
    • Learned Visual Basic for data analysis and created 2 separate macros that streamlined data collectionr
    • Established protocols for manufacturing and testing process for the final products

    Dr. Roger Narayan - 2011 : 2014
    • Developed methods to grow magnetic bacteria, magnetospirillum for use in nanobiosensors
    • Developed 3D arrays of magnetospirillum using Dimatrix inkjet cell printer
    • Printed multiple designs for chemical vapor deposition
    Dr. Mellisa Pasquinelli - 2010 : 2011
    • Conducted simulations and reported findings for group meetings
    • Researched the effects of different solvents, polymers and carbon nanotubes in a simulation
    • Published abstract and presented project at NCSU Undergraduate Research Symposium 2010
    Dr. Peter Iovine - Summer 2009
    • Learned and performed gel permeation chromatography and managed chemical processing instruments
    • Wrote a tutorial for a professional level software (PyMol) for molecular modeling

Organizer/Web Design/Backend

Built for the NCSU BME Club. Attendee list update upon RSVP form submission. The form is a Google Doc Form, linked to a Fusion table. The fusion table would update with a template for attendees. The fusion table and form are inactive as the event is over.

Ektaa is a student organization at North Carolina State University. I redesigned and now manage the site. I used Twitter Bootstrap as a framework. The events page uses the same Google Form - Spreedsheet - Fusion Table engine as the Networking event. The site files are on github to showcase version control and documentation. I also serve as the web design chair for Ektaa

This site was designed for mobile. I utilized the Google fusion table experimental app to create a dynamic list of activities. I could edit the table and update the website without needing to upload a new website each time. The fusion table application allowed me to create custom maps that were helpful in determining proximity of other sights.
